Cloisonne' is the ancient technique of creating designs on metal vessels with colored-glass paste placed within enclosures made of copper or bronze wires, which have been bent or hammered into the desired pattern. Once is art form was a Japanese art form but was revived by the Chinese in the 19th century. This piece is unmarked but was likely made mid 20th century. Cloisonne' is a type of enamel work.
